SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man accused in a deadly Friday night shooting in San Benito is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, the San Benito Police Department announced.
Miguel Monrreal, 23, of Los Fresnos, is scheduled for an arraignment at noon at the San Benito Municipal Court, where he is expected to be formally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; however, officials say those charges may be upgraded as the male victim has died.

At approximately 10:34 p.m. on Oct. 3, authorities responded to shots fired at the 900 block of Stenger Street, according to the San Benito Police Department press release.
At the scene, police found a man and woman in their 20s with gunshot wounds. Police say Monrreal left the scene.
The victims were taken to the hospital, where the man was later pronounced dead. The woman remains in critical condition.
The victim’s identity is being withheld, as the next of kin has yet to be notified.
Investigators believe the shooting occurred after a group of people got into a verbal and physical fight.
San Benito PD issued two arrest warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
At approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday, authorities caught Monrreal trying to cross the B&M bridge and arrested him, police said.
