Background
Just after midnight on July 2, Cameron County deputies responded to a 911 call at a home on the 2100 block of Florencia Avenue.
At the scene, deputies found the body of 26-year-old Rolando Arturo Vizcarra lying on the floor by the entrance of the home with a stab wound to the neck, according to a new release from the Cameron County Sheriff's Office.
Two other people were found injured, including a 32-year-old woman who was stabbed in the face and head, and a 34-year-old man who was stabbed in the shoulder.
The woman was taken to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries, while the man was treated at the scene.
Investigators say after collecting evidence from the scene and talking to witnesses, they were able to identify that the suspect was Jimenez.
At the time of the incident, sheriff's investigators obtained an arrest warrant against Jimenez for the charges of criminal homicide and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Following his arrest, Jimenez allegedly confessed to investigators to having fatally stabbed Vizcarra and injuring the other two, according to the news release.
Deputies believe the motive to be drug-related.
