LYFORD, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A 43-year-old Lyford man was found guilty of possessing items of child pornography, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Jose Rodriguez Jr. is accused of owning over 150 images and videos of child sexual assault.
Rodriguez was initially arrested in August 2024 for human smuggling.
During his arrest, authorities seized Rodriguez's phone and discovered files of child pornography.
According to the DOJ, Rodriguez had over 100 user accounts on his phone linked to him and the child sexual assault material that was downloaded.
The jury also learned Rodriguez has a prior conviction for criminal attempted sexual assault from 2010 involving a minor.
"The Southern District of Texas has zero tolerance for child sex offenses, much less repeat sex offenders like the defendant in this case,” said Ganjei. “We are grateful to the jury for serving justice in this case.”
Rodriguez faces up to 20 years in prison. His sentencing is set for July 15.
