LOS FRESNOS, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School District celebrated the grand opening of its new Performing Arts Center and Career and Technical Education Center.
The celebration began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Performing Arts Center, followed by a live performance featuring theater, dance, choir, and band ensembles.
The Career and Technical Education Center was funded by a 2021 $63 million Bond Issue and a donation from the Elon Musk Foundation. It offers programs in welding, health sciences, engineering, and more.
"The Los Fresnos CISD Performing Arts Center belongs to our community," said Anibal Villarreal, Director of Fine Arts.
The Performing Arts Center, funded by revenue from wind farms, includes a main stage theater, rehearsal spaces, and a lobby art gallery.
"Thanks to the support of our community, we now have modern spaces where students can learn, grow, and showcase their talents," said Superintendent Dr. Gonzalo Salazar.
The event will feature guided tours, student performances, and live demonstrations, starting with the dedication of the CTE Center at 8:30 a.m.
A new Agriculture Barn for Animal Science and FFA will also open behind the CTE Center.
The new facilities mark a significant investment in the future of Los Fresnos students, providing them with state-of-the-art environments to learn and grow.
