EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of Edinburg and the South Texas Junior Olympics on Thursday held a special meet and greet with some young patients at South Texas Health System Children's Hospital.
"It's very touching and emotional to see some of these kids," said Eric Molina, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation for the city of Edinburg. "A lot of kids have traveled here to Edinburg to compete this weekend in the Junior Boxing Olympics. I want to just remind them that these other kids are in fights of their own. We're here to support them as a city, as our Parks and Recreation Department, as some local professionals who came to support, and just to let them throw it. We love them, and we're here to support."
On hand visiting with the pediatric patients were boxers Eric "Drummer Boy" Molina, Roberto "La Amenaza" Garcia, Raul "El Tigre" Casarez, and Fabian "Unknown Warrior" Diaz.
The fighters donated special Easter-themed gift baskets and boxing merchandise donated by the World Boxing Council to the patients.
