Lightning strike causes hole in roof, Harlingen fire crews on scene

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Harlingen Fire Department is responding to a call about a four-plex building being struck by lightning.

Officials are also responding to a call about a smell of smoke at Valley Baptist Medical Center,

Harlingen firefighters are at the scene of the four plex, located at 702 Sonesta Drive following lighting striking a unit and causing a hole in the roof.

No injuries were reported. The fire department is checking all units to ensure no fires have ignited due to the lightning strike. As of 11:30 a.m. no fires were reported
