Response to letter
This is my response to Italo J. Zarate’s letter to the editor on Oct. 14.
President Donald Trump and many other people strongly believed that Georgia permitted thousands and thousands of votes to be cast and counted that should never have been permitted to vote. Of course, the overwhelming majority of these illegal votes would have voted Democrat. That is why Trump asked Georgia to recount and find 11,780 additional votes for Trump, or find 11,780 illegal votes, remove them, and that would have put him over the top.
Mr. Zarate said: “And he asked his vice president to not certify the results of the election, which is something Mike Pence did not have the authority to do.”
President Trump did not ask then Vice President Mike Pence to not certify the election. He asked Pence to delay the voting of the Electoral College (who determines who our next president is) until the issue of illegal voting in several states could be resolved, which could determine who actually won the presidency. But he didn’t. If Pence had permitted it, and if those state issues could not be resolved in a “reasonable” time frame, then the House of Representatives would represent 50 states that would cast one vote each to determine who would be the next president.
A commission headed by ex-President Jimmy Carter and ex-Secretary of State James Baker stated in 2005 that voting by mail increases the chances for voting fraud.
Remember that someone’s letter to the editor is merely one’s opinion.

Editor’s note: Mike Pence stated on Aug. 2, 2021, that Trump’s argument that he asked for a delay of the certification was “completely false.” He said he was asked “to literally reject votes.”
Ted Cruz opposed
Sen. Ted Cruz should not have been reelected. In an era when we have suffered record-setting forest fires, there is no excuse for him to continue to be a climate change denier. Extreme heat, unprecedented hurricanes and tornadoes, climate records are falling left and right and entire regions of our country suffering devastation. And yet, Republican cultists like Cruz are still claiming climate change is all a hoax.
How can this still be happening? What will it take to get these people to face the reality that lies before us? Do we have to wait until our world is on fire before they accept the truth?
