EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — L&F Distributors makes a $10,000 donation to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Student Pantry following its October Bud Light sales.

According to a news release from L&F Distributors, the company presented a giant $10,000 check on Saturday at the L&F Distributors Corporate Tailgate Zone at Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium.

During October, for every case sold of Bud Light in the Rio Grande Valley, L&F Distributors, in collaboration with LaMantia Family, donated $1 to the UTRGV Student Food Pantry, up to 10,000 case-equivalents.

Morgan LaMantia, Community and Government Relations for L&F Distributors, told ValleyCentral, since the company is partnering with UTRGV for Bud Light, they want to make sure the students are benefiting from the partnership as well.

UTRGV states, more than 100 students visit the campus pantries weekly, and in 2024, approximately 4,6000 students visited the student pantry.

The campaign was to help stock the pantry in time for the holiday season, when the food pantry experiences a higher volume of student traffic.

"Given with the current situation with SNAP and the government shut down we feel that students need the help the most, so we are giving back by getting one dollar from that sale and giving it to the food pantry," said LaMantia.

According to the release, through this partnership, the Food Bank of the RGV, UTRGV, was able to provide up to five meals for every dollar.

Meaning the $10,000 donation provides up to 50,000 meals for students experiencing food insecurity during the holiday season, going into the 2026 school semester.
