BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Brownsville police are investigating a burglary that took place at the Sunrise Mall.
At approximately 2:49 a.m. on July 5, Brownsville police responded to a burglary in progress at the Sunrise Mall, located at the 2300 block of N. Expressway 77/83, before their arrival.
Authorities were advised that an unknown man had forcibly entered the mall and it was unknown if he was still inside, according to a news release from the Brownsville Police Department.
Responding officers conducted a thorough search of the building but were unable to locate the suspect. According to the release, it was confirmed that the suspect had left the mall before police arrived.
During the search, police discovered that the glass window of the Pandora Jewelry store had been shattered and several items were missing from the store.
Additionally, a nearby jewelry kiosk had its glass display shattered, with multiple jewelry reported stolen.
No arrests have been made at this time, authorities say. This is an ongoing investigation.
