HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Maria Elena Giner, known for her role as the Commissioner for the International Boundary and Water Commission, announced her resignation Monday evening.
Giner publicly announced her resignation on her LinkedIn profile in a letter which was formally addressed to President Donald Trump.
In her letter, Giner shared the accomplishments made during her four-year career as IBWC commissioner.
The accomplishments range from improved developments, expansions, reparations and water deliveries throughout the U.S. and Mexico border, including the Rio Grande.
"Thank you to everyone for your support during my journey as Commissioner of the U.S. Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission. It has been the honor of my life time. The hardest job I have ever had but the most rewarding," Giner announced.
Chad McIntosh has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the IBWC.
