The Texas Department of Transportation on Wednesday will close a portion of I-69E at the request of the Harlingen Police Department.

In a news release, TxDOT said it will close the northbound I-69E travel lanes from Lincoln Street to Primera Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The six-hour closure is so police can investigate a fatal crash that happened on Friday.

“Motorists traveling northbound on I-69E will be required to take the FM 2994 exit,” the release stated. “After crossing FM 2994, drivers may reenter the Interstate using the onramp just south of Primera Rd.”

TxDOT is advising motorists to seek alternate routes if possible.

Motorists can monitor the closure at DriveTexas.org.
