MCALLEN, Texas – One of high school junior and budding entrepreneur Aaron George’s goals is to become a flight surgeon for SpaceX.

“I would like to go up in space,” said George, in an exclusive interview with the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service.

George, who attends school in Austin, said one of his passions is the intersection of medicine and technology.

In the wide-ranging interview, George also discusses a new nonprofit he has set up. It is called STEMVest. The aim is to provide career guidance to students who want to enter the STEM fields.

George said the nonprofit has already given funds to groups in the Rio Grande Valley. “I want to give back to the children there,” he said.

George recently visited with students living in a colonia in Donna. “The smiles were contagious,” he said.

George said he is also working with McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos on setting up a youth advisory council that would assist the City of McAllen. He said such a council is already in place in Edinburg.

Below is a video recording of the interview. George is interviewed by one of his mentors, McAllen-based healthcare executive Hari Namboodiri.
