HIDALGO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Hidalgo Police Department on Monday held the Basic Peace Officer Course (BPOC) graduation at the Payne Arena.
The event celebrated the achievements of the Hidalgo Police Department Law Enforcement Academy cadets as they completed their training.
"It's been a few months of hard work for these guys. There's a total of 10 cadets. All 10 of them have a job," said Chief Romeo Rodriguez, City of Hidalgo Police Department. "We're lucky enough to get them all hired before they even finished; they are ready to go and tackle any agency that wants to hire them."
Chief Rodriguez added that this is a good step in trying to alleviate the problem of the lack of police officers.
