Hidalgo ISD begins new school year with district convocation

HIDALGO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Hidalgo Independent School District held its 2025 District Convocation to celebrate the start of a new school year.

The event took place on Tuesday at the Payne Arena, where the district showcased its achievements, showcased student talent, and featured an inspiring keynote address.

Jay Gonzalez, Superintendent of Schools for Hidalgo ISD, told ValleyCentral, that he is excited about the upcoming school year and HISD has a hardworking school board and staff.

"Anytime you are leading a school district, anytime you are part of team, you want to come together to celebrate the beginning of a school year, there is a lot of work ahead of us but we have the right team and leaders," said Gonzalez.

He added, we come together with our teachers to support classroom instruction but it can not happen without everyone in the district.
