PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Hidalgo County is updating its Hazard Mitigation Action Plan to address natural hazards and reduce risks to human life and property.

The county will host a public meeting on Monday, Sept. 22, at 5 p.m. at the Pharr One Center to discuss updates to the plan and gather community feedback.

The updated Hazard Mitigation Action Plan aims to minimize or eliminate long-term risks from known hazards through effective mitigation strategies.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the planning process by attending public meetings or completing a live survey.

The public meeting will provide an overview of the project and allow the community to collaborate with the planning team, identify areas prone to natural hazards, and propose solutions to reduce risk.

For those unable to attend in person, the meeting will be accessible via Zoom by scanning QR codes available on distributed flyers.

By involving the community in the planning process, Hidalgo County hopes to create a comprehensive plan that effectively mitigates the impact of natural hazards on its residents.
