EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Hidalgo County Commissioners Court formally opened the new county courthouse during a special ceremony on Thursday.
According to the county, this occasion marks the official opening of a modern facility that reflects the growth, diversity, and aspirations of the county.
"This courthouse is more than a building, it's a symbol of justice and community," said Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez. "It will serve as the centerpiece of our county for generations to come, providing a safe, efficient, and accessible space for the administration of justice."
Hidalgo County spent roughly $190 million on the seven-story building, which contains 30 courtrooms.
