HIDALGO COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An Hidalgo County Detention Center Officer was arrested following accusations of bringing narcotics into the facility, according to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office.
On Sept. 16, Rolando Rodriguez, a former employee of the Hidalgo County Detention Center, was charged with prohibited substances and items in a correctional or civil commitment facility, a 3rd degree felony and engaging in organized criminal activity, a 2nd degree felony.

According to a news release from HCSO, an investigation alleges that Rodriguez had conspired with an inmate and outside suspects to introduce narcotics into the facility.
“We take these allegations seriously and I am committed to preserving the public’s confidence and trust in Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office," said Sheriff J.E. “Eddie” Guerra. "We will continue to investigate any and all allegations of employee misconduct, and will take the necessary and appropriate actions to maintain accountability and transparency.”
His bond was set at $2,500 for each charge.
This is an ongoing investigation.
