Hidalgo County celebrates adoption day, helps seven families adopt

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Hidalgo County celebrated National Adoption Day by holding a special court proceeding on Friday.

During the proceeding, seven families were able to formally adopt children under the 430th Court State District Judge Israel Ramon, Jr. and Associate Judge Carlos Villalon, Jr.

Some parents attending the ceremony say they have waited a long time for this moment.

"It feels awesome, it's been a long time coming and it's a relief. We're glad to say he's officially ours now."

National Adoption Day has been celebrated for 25 years.
