DONNA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Valley man was arraigned Monday for allegedly murdering a man who was arguing with his daughter over money.
Travis Leon Trevino, 34, faces a charge of manslaughter after being arraigned Monday morning.
On Dec. 13, at about 5:59 p.m. Hidalgo County Deputies responded to a call regarding an aggravated assault.
At the beginning of the night, the victim, identified as 41-year-old Isaac Martinez, was at 3200 block of Geronimo Street in rural Weslaco drinking with several men.
Later in the night his ex wife arrived to drop off her 11-year-old son with his father. During the visit, the woman's teenage daughter asked Martinez for money and an argument erupted.
According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office, Trevino confronted Martinez during the argument about his behavior towards his daughter.
Witnesses testified that they saw Trevino strike Martinez multiple times in the face.
The victim's ex wife took him to the 2700 block of Bustamante Street in rural Donna to seek help.
When deputies arrived, Martinez was unresponsive with a bloody shirt.
He was immediately transported to Knapp Medical Center for medical treatment and later transferred to McAllen Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
On Monday Trevino went before a judge for his alleged involvement in the death.
He was issued a bond of $1,000,000 and remains in custody at the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center.
