EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Hidalgo County deputies arrested a man, who they say, became aggressive and shot at the ground near his family members over an argument.
Mario Alberto Salinas, 47, was charged with two counts of deadly conduct family violence and interference with a 911 call, according to a release from the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office.
On Monday afternoon, authorities responded to the 400 block of Appoloossa regarding a welfare check.
The welfare check was later reclassified to deadly conduct.
At the scene, deputies spoke with the family members who reported that Salinas had become aggressive toward them over an argument about the property.
According to the release, Salinas then fired a gunshot toward the ground near the family members and threatened to hurt them, because he wanted them to leave the property.
No injuries were reported.
Deputies attempted to speak to Salinas but he ran back into his parent's house and refused to come out after being instructed by the responding deputies, the release stated.
Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office Crisis Negotiators were called to the scene and Salinas surrendered himself to deputies.
Salinas was taken into custody and may face further criminal charges.
