HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Harlingen VA Health Care Center will host a free food drive-thru event on Thursday.
The event will take place at the center located at 2601 Veterans Dr. in Harlingen from 9 to 11 a.m. or while supplies last.
Veterans who wish to participate must be enrolled in health care at the VA Texas Valley Costal Bend Health Care System and present a valid VA identification card to confirm their status.
"If you're a Veteran in need, VA is here for you," said Hugo Martinez, Public Affairs Officer, emphasizing the VA's commitment to addressing this critical issue.
Veterans are asked to remain in their vehicles while VA staff verify eligibility, and volunteers will place food items in the trunk or bed of the vehicle.
The VA partners with the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley to expand its reach and provide vital resources to Veterans and their families in the Valley Coastal Bend area.
