Harlingen High School’s boys soccer coach has been arrested on allegations of selling, distributing or displaying harmful material to a minor.
Joseph Allen Johnson, 31, was arrested by Harlingen police on Monday, according to the department’s jail logs.
In a statement from the Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District, spokesperson Ashely Rodriguez referred to Johnson as a “former employee.”
“We prioritize the safety of our HCISD school community and thank the Harlingen Police Department for their partnership,” Rodriguez said.
She further indicated that Johnson is no longer employed with the district.
“Through our partnership, we were able to take swift action to address concerns regarding the former employee,” she added. “The situation had been reported to the appropriate authorities including but not limited to the Texas Education Agency.”
