Harlingen's Viva Streets: Cinco de Mayo fest with music, fun

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral)—The city of Harlingen is inviting the public to prepare for its Viva Streets: Cinco de Mayo Festival.

It is a community event featuring a 5k Fun Run, a 7.5-mile social bike ride, food vendors, games, and live music.

The 5k requires online registration by Thursday, May 1. The bike ride is free and open to all ages. Participants receive a finisher t-shirt and medal.

The event, partnered with Cinco de Mayo, aims to promote health and wellness. The headlining act is the Austin-based Selena tribute band Bidi Bidi Banda, with Mariachi Estrellas del Valle opening.

Mark your calendars for Friday, May 2, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 1217 Fair Park Blvd.
