HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Monday afternoon to celebrate the grand opening of a renovated children's section at the Harlingen Public Library.
The Junior League of Harlingen, a non-profit, dedicated three years to upgrading the children's facility through fundraising events.
"The children's library that was prior to needed a big facelift, and it wasn't quite meeting the ADA compliance," said Jaclyn Perez, Project Chair of the Junior League of Harlingen.
The upgraded facility will now feature new nooks, a computer section, a study area, a toddler section, and a tween section.
"What I hope this brings to the community of Harlingen is for young, aspiring kids to come in here and be creative," Perez continued. "To do big things. To continue to grow."
The upgraded facility is now open inside the Harlingen Public Library at 410 76 Dr.
