HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Harlingen Police Department, along with multiple law enforcement agencies, gathered to remember the men and women killed in the line of duty.
The department honored the fallen on Thursday and showed its support for those who continue to serve the community.
"It's a time to remember that officers, public servants, risk their lives to preserve the peace, and ultimately, to build that bridge between the community and us, where safety is paramount," said Interim Harlingen Police Chief Alfredo Alvear.
Since 1984, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial has stood as a tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, preserving the legacy of American law enforcement and striving to create a safer future for those who serve.
