Harlingen PD: Man's body found shot near McKelvey Park

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Harlingen police say they are investigating a homicide that occurred Tuesday night.

According to Sgt. Larry Moore around 10:30 p.m. dispatchers received a call of shots fired off 77 Sunshine Strip and McKelvey Park.

When police arrived they found the body of a man, dead with an apparent gunshot wound lying on the ground near the Arroyo Hike and Bike Trail.

Police say the man is believed to be in his early 20s and his identity is pending due to notification of next of kin.

Police say this is still an active investigation and they are looking to identify the shooter.
