Harlingen PD hosts event for World Autism Awareness Day

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated every year on April 2.

The Harlingen Police Department hosted an event at Lon C. Hill on Wednesday to commemorate the worldwide event.

"For the last nine years, we've been promoting autism awareness, and we've been getting a good crowd every year," said Alfredo Alvear, Harlingen Chief of Police.

The event offered community resources, services information, games, activities and live music.
