Harlingen man wanted for allegedly stomping on, killing kitten

PRIMERA, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Primera Police Department is assembling a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly stomped on a kitten until it was lifeless, authorities say.

Police are searching for 22-year-old Harlingen resident Gustavo De La Garza who is wanted in connection to a kitten stomping late Sunday night.

Officers responded to the Oasis Mobile Home Park in Primera at approximately 11:40 p.m. Sunday in reference to an animal cruelty case.

According to police, a woman reported to authorities that she was in her residence when she saw a shadow walk across her bedroom window.

The woman told police that she looked out the window and saw a man allegedly stomping on her kitten.

When the owner of the kitten went outside, she realized a man, who authorities believe to be De La Garza, had left the scene. The woman said her kitten was dead when she went outside.

De La Garza will face charges of cruelty to a non-livestock animal, police say.
