City Commissioner Daniel Lopez is set to hold a town hall meeting focusing on District 2, launching a series of community forums across the city’s five voting districts.
The program debuts Thursday at City Hall, with Lopez, who oversees District 2 running along parts of the city’s core, unveiling his new work plan.
“Town halls have been pivotal in helping us develop and carry out precise solutions that directly serve each local neighborhood’s distinct needs,” he said Tuesday. “These listening sessions allow residents to learn more about what’s happening in the city and their neighborhoods.”
The series of town halls aims to give residents a chance to speak out about the issues hitting close to home.
“We believe residents should be fully informed about ongoing and future community developments,” Lopez said. “We highly encourage the public’s attendance and look forward to their valuable input.”
On Thursday, Lopez is set to open the town hall at 5:30 p.m., planning to close the meeting at 7 p.m.
As part of his program, he, along with city staff, are planning to outline “key goals and priorities for our neighborhoods,” he said.
“Staff and I will also provide updates on various projects important to infrastructure, public services and economic development within the district,” he said.
Earlier this year, commissioners called on each of the city’s districts to hold annual town hall meetings.
“This allows for a more focused and relevant discussion, addressing challenges and opportunities unique to each district,” Lopez said. “By providing a dedicated forum, we seek residents’ concerns and gather feedback directly about their immediate surroundings.”
On June 12, Commissioner Rene Perez, overseeing District 5, is set to hold the second town hall of the series.
