Harlingen business specializes in homecoming mums

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) - The bells, the glitter: Homecoming season is always a big deal across the state of Texas, and front and center of the festivities is none other than the mum. 

For the last 15 years, Kelly Cabrera of KK's Closet has been a master crafter, putting together these mums as soon as football season begins.

This year, the Harlingen business owner received more than 400 orders from across the Valley, state and nation.

Cabrera says she started making the mums when her daughter was a cheerleader.

During that time, Cabera says it was hard for her to find a place to order and the pricing was expensive.

Now, her daughter works closely with her to get these spirit mums out to the public.
