BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Gladys Porter Zoo Discovery Education Center is hosting 'Safari Summer Camp, ' a five-day adventure summer camp for students in pre-k to fifth grade.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., children can enjoy games, story time, zoo tours, and up-close encounters with animals, according to the zoo's website.
Children can join at any time from June to the first week of August.
"So, we do offer different themes throughout the week. If your child is interested in fish, we do have a fish tails camp for them. If they're interested in reptiles, we have a camp based on reptiles, and every Friday after those camps, we do offer a starlight sleepover," says Charbeli Ramos, 1st and 2nd grade summer camp teacher.
A parent or guardian is required to fill out a registration form with the child present at the time.
The Safari Summer Camp does include a fee, but offers a discount for zoo members.
