AUSTIN, Texas – State Rep. Erin Elizabeth Gámez of Brownsville achieved a 100 percent ranking on the Texas AFL-CIO’s legislative scorecard for the 89th legislative session.
She was the only state lawmaker from the Rio Grande Valley to score a perfect mark. Most of the other Valley representatives in the Texas House scored highly, but none achieved a perfect score.
“Texas workers need our lawmakers to show up and fight for them,” said Texas AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Leonard Aguilar. “You’re either for Texas workers or you’re for billionaires’ bank accounts. By making this data publicly available, we’re giving Texans the information they need to evaluate their legislators, and when necessary, the power to hold their legislators accountable.”
Here are the marks for the Valley Reps:
State Rep. Erin Elizabeth Gámez of Brownsville: 100 percent
State Rep. Armando Martinez of Weslaco: 96 percent
State Rep. R.D. ‘Bobby’ Guerra of McAllen: 90 percent
State Rep. Oscar Longoria of La Joya: 79 percent
State Rep. Sergio Muñoz of Mission: 77 percent
State Rep. Terry Canales of Edinburg: 70 percent
State Rep. Ryan Guillen of Rio Grande City: 51 percent
State Rep. Janie Lopez of San Benito: 43 percent
