Funeral, vigil for Navy sailor this Friday

BROWNSVILLE, Texas, (ValleyCentral) — The funeral services for Angelina Resendiz, a fallen U.S. Navy sailor whose body was found in Virginia, have been announced.

Angelina Resendiz was initially reported missing on May 29 and was last seen in her barracks at Naval Station Norfolk around 10 a.m., according to the Navy. She was assigned to the USS James E. Williams (DDG 95). The Naval Criminal Investigative Service confirmed June 10 that the body found in Norfolk was that of Resendiz.

At 5:30 p.m. Friday, funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 114 E. Price Rd, with military honors following at 6:30 p.m.

A vigil with be held at 7 p.m. at the Brownsville Event Center, located at 1 Events Center Blvd.
