Funeral services underway for Weslaco cheerleader Larissa Rodriguez

WESLACO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Funeral services are underway for Weslaco High School senior and cheerleader Larissa Rodriguez.

Viewing services are being held at the Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco Chapel of the Angels on Thursday from noon to 9 p.m. A rosary will follow at 7 p.m.

A second viewing is scheduled for Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., concluding with a Mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Weslaco at 2 p.m.

ValleyCentral spoke to Weslaco High School cheer coach Itzel Zepeda, who said Larissa’s love for cheer was so tangible that she made varsity during her sophomore year.

“She’s also a hall of fame cheerleader, UCL, American, UCA staff candidate,” said Zepeda. “She is wonderful, a wonderful girl.”

The city of Weslaco is planning a vigil for Rodriguez in the next couple of weeks.
