HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Fourth of July kicks off on Friday, bringing an entire weekend of festivities across the Rio Grande Valley.
Here are the Fourth of July events happening near you.
Patriotic Pops in the Park
Quinta Mazatlan in McAllen is celebrating Independence Day early with an evening of arts, crafts, and a live performance by the Valley Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet.
The celebration will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, July 3, at Quinta Mazatlan, located at 600 Sunset Blvd. in McAllen.
Admission is $5, children 2 and under enter free.
Mission Annual Independence Day Celebration
The City of Mission invites the community to ring in the Fourth of July with an early celebration on Thursday, July 3.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and continue until 9 p.m. at the Mission Event Center, 200 N. Shary Rd.
Texas Cook'Em
The Texas Cook'Em event is returning to Edinburg just in time for the Fourth of July.
The day-long event will feature a BBQ cook-off competition, live cover bands, a car show, a skydive show, and more.
Festival grounds open at 4 p.m.. Friday, July 4, and close at 11 p.m. at the Ebony Hills Golf Course, 300 W. Palm Dr.
Los Fresnos
The City of Los Fresnos invites the community to its Independence Day celebration with live music, fireworks, contests, and more.
Guest speaker Angela R. Burton with the Small Business Administration will be in attendance.
The event will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, July 3, at the Los Fresnos Memorial Park on 900 N. Arroyo Blvd.
City of McAllen
McAllen will host its 97th annual Independence Day celebration on Friday with multiple festivities.
Fourth of July festivities will begin at 7 a.m., Friday, with an Independence 4K Run followed by the Main Street Parade at 9 a.m.
The festivities will continue with an Aquatica Extravaganza from 1 to 4 p.m. at the McAllen Municipal Pool on 1921 N. Bicentennial Blvd.
If pools aren't your thing, McAllen will also be hosting a Freedom Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Archer Park on 101 N. Main St.
McAllen will wrap up their day of festivities with a night festival at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Park, 1921 N. Bicentennial Blvd.
The free night festival will wrap up at 10 p.m.
City of Starbase
The City of Starbase is inviting the public to an inaugural 4th of July fireworks celebration right on the beach.
The event will be hosted by Senator Adam Hinojosa, Representative Janie Lopez and SpaceX.
SpaceX will host the event at 7 p.m. right on Boca Chica Beach. Locals are encouraged to bring their cars onto the beach to see the firework display.
At 7 p.m. there will be a live band performance, followed by welcoming remarks from Hinojosa and Lopez at 7:55 p.m.
At 8:45 p.m., the fireworks display will begin. Additionally, there will be a second band performance at 10 p.m.
SpaceX will not be selling any food or beverages at the location.
“Attendees are encouraged to bring their own refreshments. Temporary restrooms and a water station will be set up and available on the beach,” the space company wrote.
