Former ‘star quarterback’ at PSJA North charged with terroristic threat against a judge, harassment

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A former "star quarterback" at PSJA North High School appeared before a judge on Thursday for a bail hearing.

Gilberto 'Gilbert' Zepeda III, 39, of California, has been charged with making a terroristic threat against a judge, a state jail felony, and harassment, a Class B misdemeanor.

Zepeda's bond was set at $150,000 for both charges.

Zepeda is accused of harassing and threatening State District Judge Nereida Lopez Singleterry through messages and social media posts using vulgar language.

A judge issued a 91-day protective order for Singleterry and her family in which Zepeda shall have no direct or indirect contact in person or digitally.

On Oct. 30, the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Zepeda at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago.
