BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Former Mexican president Vicente Fox spoke at RGV Startup Week, an event dedicated to offering resources to local entrepreneurs.
Fox spoke at the event earlier this week, urging United States and Mexican businesses to overcome the political barriers posed by tariffs.
The former president drew from his own experience as a businessman to make a case for continuing to invest across the border.
"I worked in Coca-Cola... We learn in our country that we should open our markets," Fox said. "100 years ago, the Coca-Cola company came to Mexico. Coke boxes have been benefiting and making profits each of those 100 years."
RGV Startup is underway in Brownsville and will continue through Friday, May 2.
