EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley is hosting its 18th annual Empty Bowls luncheon.

The goal is to help raise money that will help buy food to feed people in our community. The event took place at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg where H-E-B Hunger Relief lead the charge with a donation that provided 100,000 meals to people facing hunger insecurity.

This year, over 35 restaurants participated in the Empty Bowls event.

The event also featured a unique silent auction where guests could earn a hand printed ceramic bowl, symbolizing the ongoing challenges of hunger in the community.

Every dollar raised helps provide up to five meals for those at risk of hunger in the community, making each contribution impactful in the fight against food insecurity.
