HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Food Bank of the RGV is hosting its fourth annual Empty Bowls event in Brownsville and Edinburg.
The event, presented by H-E-B, is to address the food insecurity in the RGV, with 80% of people in the area lacking reliable food sources.
The event will be held at the Brownsville Event Center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 26. It will feature food, drinks, raffles, silent auctions, and a salsa contest.
Tickets for Noche Caliente are $40 online or $45 at the door. The event includes handmade bowls, symbolizing the empty bowls in the Rio Grande Valley, and attendees take home a bowl to raise awareness.
The Food Bank also needs donations, volunteers, and food drives to support their efforts.
