Flood advisory issued for Cameron, Willacy Counties

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Heavy rainfall is causing traffic delays and increased inches of water across the Valley.

4:11 p.m.

A flood advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service on Cameron and Willacy Counties.

The moderate flood advisory is in effect until 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. A flood advisory is a caution indicating that flooding is expected due to excessive rainfall.

Minor flooding in low-lying areas is expected, as well as in areas with poor drainage.

At 2:59 p.m. doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.

As of this afternoon, between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Another 1 to 3 inches of rainfall are expected to fall.
