HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — County officials are working together to bring resources to residents after Thursday's historic storm.

Parts of Cameron County were significantly affected by flood waters this week leaving many without vehicles and with flooded homes.

Emergency Management Services are working closely with Harlingen to get resources out to the community in a timely manner. Starting Thursday, EMS will set up an information resource center at the Harlingen Community Center.

The goal is to give people guidance on how to file for assistance in financial, important documentation, and health areas post-storm.

One of the things provided will be help with how to recover documents like birth certificates from the storm.

The info center will start before regular business hours and run after business hours on Thursday. It will run through Saturday.

We will keep you updated as we get more information.
