EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A father accused of leaving his child alone at his apartment overnight, leading to the toddler walking alone in a neighborhood, is scheduled to be arraigned.
Alex Hernandez, 26, of Edinburg, is scheduled to appear in front of a judge at 1:30 p.m. on Monday to be charged with abandoning and endangering a child, according to a news release from the City of Edinburg.
At approximately 7:59 a.m. Sunday morning, Edinburg police responded to the area of Fort Hood Avenue and Fort Brown Avenue following reports of a toddler walking alone in the neighborhood.

At the scene, authorities found the child unattended and immediately began canvassing the area looking to identify and find the parents of the child, the release stated.
Shortly before 9 a.m., a man arrived at the scene and identified himself as the child's father. According to the release, the man, later identified as Hernandez, told police he had forport the toddler at his apartment.
Following the investigation, authorities determined the child was left alone overnight.
Hernandez was arrested and is scheduled for an arraignment on Monday afternoon.
