Fatal one-vehicle crash on FM 1419 in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a one-vehicle crash in Brownsville.

At 5:02 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, authorities responded to a crash on FM 1419 south of Alaska Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a black Ford Focus, occupied by a male driver, was going northbound on FM 1419 and veered left, went into a side skid off the road before crashing with a tree, according to a news release from DPS.

The driver was identified as 50-year-old Brownsville resident Edgar Alberto Martinez. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation.
