Farm animals rescued from floodwaters in San Benito

SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — First responders in San Benito are being recognized for their efforts in rescuing farm animals from floodwaters.

San Benito and nearby cities saw up to 20 inches of rain, leaving residents to evacuate their homes.

In the midst of rescue efforts, first responders saved goats, sheep and donkey from near drowning.

"We’re so proud of their dedication and grateful for their efforts to evacuate both people and animals to dry ground and to safety," the City of San Benito announced.

Parts of San Benito remain flooded.

Rescue efforts are underway in San Benito and Valley wide.
