MISSION, Texas – The president of Castle Hospitality says a new industrial park his company is developing in south McAllen could have a “huge presence” in the market.

Michael Fallek was interviewed by the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service at an economic development and marketing meeting hosted by Hidalgo County Prosperity Task Force and held at La Fogata in Mission.

“We are actively developing McAllen South Industrial Park right now. It is on Military Highway, just west of 10th Street in McAllen. It sits on 125 acres, and we can put about 1.8 million square feet of industrial space in the park,” Fallek said.

Asked about the timeline, Fallek said: “We are going to contract with different parcels. We’re going to come out of the ground with a 200,000 square foot spec warehouse ourselves to set a design standard in the park. We’re hoping to have a huge presence in the market.”

The economic development and marketing meeting hosted by Hidalgo County Prosperity Task Force attracted more than 50 stakeholders, including industrial developers, empresarios, business leaders, bankers, and economic development officials.

The meeting, coordinated by prosperity task force co-leader Mario Reyna and CIL Group CEO Joaquin Spamer, aimed to get input from the private sector on how best to market the region, both North Tamaulipas and South Texas.

Fallek said the meeting went well.

“It was a wonderfully productive meeting. I think it’s an excellent idea to get all the power brokers in the region united, be it private enterprise and the government entities. United so that we can form a group that has more of a power structure. United with funding behind it to create a vision and a presence in the region, in the state and throughout the nation and the world,” Fallek said.

“Near-shoring is happening and it’s important that the (Rio Grande) Valley gets our fair share.”
