LOS FRESNOS — The Los Fresnos Falcons continued their dominant run through District 32-6A by flying past the San Benito Greyhounds 9-2 on Tuesday at Los Fresnos High School.
The Falcons (22-3, 5-0) have now clinched at least a share of the 32-6A title with three games remaining. One more win and it belongs to Los Fresnos and Los Fresnos alone.
San Benito (11-12, 3-3) sits in second in the district standings with two games left to play.
“Everybody played a great role. We hit the ball well, pitched well and made a couple plays behind it,” Los Fresnos head coach Rene Morales said. “Everybody is doing a little part of it on this team.”

So just how dominant have the Falcons fared in 32-6A competition?
They’ve played more district games (5) than runs they’ve allowed in those games (4), and have outscored district opponents 44-4.
On Tuesday against the Greyhounds, the Falcons scored nine runs off 10 hits. Los Fresnos started hot with a three-run first inning thanks to a two-run single by Alejandro Rodriguez and an RBI-single by Aiden Douglas.
The Falcons put together another strong inning with a four-run fifth after three triples from Douglas, Rodriguez and Fernando Altamirano.

As dominant as the Falcons were at the plate on Tuesday, the freshman pitcher Altamirano matched the effort with his performance on the mound.
The right-handed freshman pitched a complete game against San Benito and allowed two runs off four hits with 11 strikeouts and one walk.
He surrendered the two runs on a pair of RBI groundouts in the second and third innings before regaining his form. He went on to strike out three of the four batters he faced in the top of the seventh to seal the home win.
“Although I started off rocky, I worked through it as the game went by, and no matter what, I kept my control, I kept my composure and I just kept going,” Altamirano said.

Douglas led Los Fresnos offensively with a 3-for-4 game with three RBI and one run scored. Rodriguez went 1-for-1 with three RBI and Derek Garcia finished 1-for-3 with one RBI, one run and one walk.
San Benito’s Ethan Garza and Justin Montemayor drove in one run each for the Greyhounds.

Los Fresnos is back in action at 6:30 p.m. Thursday against Brownsville Veterans at Los Fresnos High School.
