'Extreme caution': Alligator spotted near canal in McAllen

MCALLEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The City of McAllen is urging the public to use extreme caution after an alligator was spotted near a canal on Monday.

The alligator was reportedly sighted on 2nd Street near Pecan Boulevard.

"Public safety is our top priority, and we appreciate everyone's cooperation as we work to ensure the community remains safe," said McAllen City Manager Isaac J. Tawil.

Anyone who comes in contact with the alligator is asked to immediately report to the McAllen Animal Care Services at (956) 681-1919.
