Brownsville City Manager Helen Ramirez says the recent Bridging Borders and Beyond event hosted by Brownsville Chamber of Commerce was “epic” in nature.

The full title of the event was “Bridging Borders & Beyond – The Impact of US-Mexico Relations and Space Exploration in the Rio Grande Valley.” It was held at the Brownsville Events Center.

“Leaders came together to discuss the profound impact of U.S.-Mexico relations and space exploration on the Rio Grande Valley. With our unique location on the U.S.-Mexico border, Brownsville is becoming a vital hub for groundbreaking innovation,” Ramirez said, in a posting on social media.

Ramirez noted the event featured a keynote address from Kathryn Lueders, manager of SpaceX’s Starbase, and a panel moderated by Glenn Hamer, president and CEO of the Texas Association of Business.

The panelists consisted of Judith Arrieta, Mexico’s consul in Brownsville, Norman Garza, Jr., executive director of the Texas Spaceport Commission, Lueders and Ramirez.

Ramirez thanked Esmy Villarreal, president of Brownsville Chamber of Commerce for hosting the event.

“Together, we’re shaping the future of our city and beyond,” Ramirez said.
