Events honoring Veterans across the Rio Grande Valley

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Tuesday marks Veterans Day, a day to honor all Veterans and active-duty military members.

Across the Rio Grande Valley, Veterans are being celebrated through ceremonies and luncheons.

Veterans Day Luncheon

Texas Rep. Erin Gamez invites all Veterans to a luncheon on Veterans Day.

The luncheon, catered by Ricardo's Restaurant, will take place at the Brownsville Elks Lodge #2876, located on 1801 Veterans Blvd. in Brownsville.

Food will be served starting at 11 a.m., while supplies last.

Lower RGV Development Council

The Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council will host its 4th Annual Veterans Festival next week in Harlingen.

The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Iwo Jima Memorial and Museum, located at 320 Iwo Jima Blvd.

Health screenings, Veterans resources, and food will be available at the event.

City of Mission

The City of Mission invites all Veterans to enjoy a BBQ plate at its Veterans Day Appreciation BBQ event.

Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Mission Event Center, located on 200 N. Shary Rd. in Mission.

Drive-thru and dine-in options are available. Plates will be served until 1 p.m. or while supplies last.

La Villa ISD and City of La Villa

The City of La Villa and the school district are honoring all Veterans with a brunch ceremony on Tuesday.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building, located on 500 E. 9th St.

Driscoll Children's Hospital

The McAllen Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Driscoll Children's Hospital RGV to host a flag-raising ceremony.

The event will feature a presentation of colors, remarks from hospital leaders, and recognition of Veterans.

The event will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Veterans Day at Driscoll's, located on 2820 W. Michaelangelo Dr. in Edinburg.

City of McAllen

A Veterans Day ceremony will be held in McAllen.

The city of McAllen invites the community to pay tribute at 10 a.m. at the Veterans War Memorial of Texas, located on 3129 Galveston Ave.

Lyford CISD

The Lyford Consolidated Independent School District is hosting its 37th annual Veterans Day ceremony and luncheon on Tuesday.

The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at Lyford Stadium, followed by a luncheon at Veterans Gymnasium located on Bulldog Avenue.
