EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Hidalgo County Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres announced her campaign for a third term on Friday.
Since she first took office, Commissioner Torres has focused on improving infrastructure, public health, and the quality of life for residents in Precinct 4. Her efforts have included securing over $39 million in funding for flood control and launching 44 drainage projects.
"It has been an honor to serve the residents of Precinct 4," Torres said in a statement. "Together, we've navigated unprecedented challenges and delivered meaningful improvements."

Commissioner Torres has prioritized drainage and flood control, securing funding for the expansion of the South Main Drain and North Main Drain. She has completed all 2018 Precinct 4 Drainage Bond projects and initiated six additional projects from the 2023 bond election.
Under her leadership, 11 drainage projects have been funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, and more than eight in-house engineering projects have been launched in partnership with the Hidalgo County Drainage District No. 1.
